Shell box 38

I am an avid antiquer who loves Victorian Shell Art, a much loved form of folk art. When turn-of-the-century collectable pieces became increasingly difficult to find, I decided to make them myself and keep this form of lost art alive.

When I began work, I luckily found 80 pounds of these now very rare and almost impossible to find pearlized turbo shells that the Victorian artist used on their bordered work. I've been able to carefully use these along with my own collection of vintage shells, creating my own form of shell art.

Most pieces are one of a kind and signed. I create CUSTOM pieces and am experienced in RESTORATION work. A collection of my work can be seen in Houston, Texas at TWENTY SIX TWENTY JOANEL, a shop named for the street it's on.
